Robert Leaker is an advocate for change in the financial services industry. Robert works for Meridian Credit Union and has been given a mandate to develop innovative solutions for financial services challenges as the VP of Emerging Markets and Innovation. He has 8 years of senior management experience in financial services.

Robert is interested in using social media and open source development to challenge the banking paradigms and help people take control of their financial lives. Robert is also passionate about transparency and the cooperative credit union values of democracy and sharing.

Prior to banking, he held positions in retail operations management and process engineering at Petro Canada. Robert is a licensed engineer and holds a MBA from Queen’s University.

Robert lives in Hamilton, Ontario with his wife and 4 children.

Shawna Miller

Vice President Marketing

Affinity Credit Union

Shawna Miller has 23 years’ experience in the credit union system where she specializes in marketing and business development.
 
In her current role with Affinity Credit Union, she leads a team that has developed and implemented a new and innovative brand strategy and she now guides its promotion through the use of public relations, product marketing, creative services, advertising, and online marketing. She is currently looking to expand into social media marketing targeting the non-traditional and younger markets.
 
She is actively involved in developing community partnerships and represents Affinity Credit Union on several community boards/voluntary organizations.  
 
Shawna is married with three sons and lives in Watrous, Saskatchewan.

Ed Brett

Ecommerce Channel Manager

Westminster Savings Credit Union

Ed Brett has worked in the British Columbia credit union system since 1995, and has worked with credit union Online Banking and website services since 1999.

In his current role as Ecommerce Channel Manager at Westminster Savings Credit Union in British Columbia he is responsible for guiding the credit union’s online and mobile banking strategy. Working within the Marketing team but with close relationships to the credit union’s Information Systems and Operations teams, Ed helps identify and implement opportunities both internally and externally to innovate using web tools. He is particularly interested in the technology we can build to mimic the casual but rich conversations that occur every day and that are the source of so many good ideas.

Ed lives in Surrey, British Columbia with his wife and two stupid but spoiled cats.
